Letter to the Editor of the Leelanau Enterprise

Political Slant

To the Editor:

A radio turned to a conservative AM station was blaring as I entered a local
grocery.  The male voice warned "elections do matter" as he chastised and
demonized the Obama administration's record, all 12 months of it!

I inquired to the clerk why that particular station always seemed to be on
and why would one listen to political slant on a beautiful sunny afternoon?
The clerk offered to be happy to listen to the "other side" (apparently a
voice less shrill and misrepresentative) but the current channel was the
only option.

So much for the vast liberal media, I mused.

Here is a part-time employee that probably does not have an employer health
insurance option listening to a millionaire, mouthpiece for big pharm, big
health insurance corporations misrepresenting our president's efforts to fix
a broken system.  A health insurance scheme an increasing number of
Americans cannot afford that provides huge profits of health insurance
corporations as it administers most inefficiently!

As I was leaving the loud radio insisted a reconciliation vote on the health
bill was an Obama trap.

Surely the voice remembers reconciliation has, in fact, been used for
previous health reforms - and was used to push through both of the Bush tax
cuts at a budget cost of $1.8 trillion, twice the bill for health reform.
